The women that raised me from my mother Wauneta Lonewolf that birthed me , to her sisters, aunties & cousins. I have seen them go through it all & it has always been their strength that I admired. They are the descendants of the warrior women before them. They are the medicine women, the women that governed our tribe, the women that upheld our traditions and beliefs, the women that taught us the ancient dances, languages and codes of conduct. I walk with pride being Oglala Lakota because of them. When I was feeling down they’ll tell me to go smudge and bead. When I needed to leave a relationship they’ll say “come back home to the Rez & come to ceremony.” They always had the answers. I’m blessed to have been raised by the women of my family.
